France Invests €750,000 in Nigerian Universities for Plastic Recycling Innovation

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): The French Embassy in Nigeria has invested over €750,000 (more than N1.2 billion) through the French Embassy Fund to support research projects that convert plastic waste into wealth-generating products across Nigerian universities.
The initiative is designed to promote sustainable recycling solutions that address environmental pollution while creating jobs and boosting entrepreneurship.
Speaking at the commissioning of a microplant facility at Nile University of Nigeria, French Ambassador to Nigeria Marc Fonbaustier, represented by Pierre Andriamapianina, urged universities to intensify research into converting plastic waste into commercially viable products.
The project currently supports 11 Nigerian universities, including University of Lagos, with grants already funding recycling innovation in five institutions and microplants installed at two campuses.
