Fire burns pile of crushed vehicles at Salt Lake scrap metal recycling facility

Upon arrival, they found the fire in a pile of crushed vehicles and began working to extinguish the flames.

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster):  Large plumes of smoke were visible in west Salt Lake City after a pile of crushed vehicles caught on fire at a scrap metal facility.

Fire crews were dispatched to 3150 W 900 S just before 6:30 a.m. Saturday in response to reports of a vehicle fire, according to officials with the Salt Lake City Fire Department.

Upon arrival, they found the fire in a pile of crushed vehicles and began working to extinguish the flames.

Firefighters put out the blaze approximately one hour after they were dispatched to the scene. The cause of the fire was not released as it remains under investigation.
