SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Century Aluminum Company has commenced production of its first hot metal following the successful expansion of its Mt. Holly smelter in South Carolina. The project, expected to reach full operational capacity by the end of June 2026, will increase total U.S. primary aluminum output by approximately 10%.

The expansion has already generated more than 125 well-paying jobs in the region, reinforcing the company’s position as the largest producer of primary aluminum in the United States. The move aligns with broader efforts to strengthen domestic supply chains for critical materials.
