Novelis Extends Infinitum Partnership to Boost Can Recycling in Norway
Maldum highlighted the operational benefits, noting that transparency in volumes and logistics supports a stable and cost-efficient recycling system.
SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Novelis Inc. has extended its long-term partnership with Infinitum to strengthen aluminium can recycling in Norway, reinforcing a shared commitment to circular economy practices.
Under the renewed agreement, aluminium beverage cans collected through Infinitum’s deposit return system will continue to be transported to Novelis’ recycling facility in Latchford, UK. There, the material is processed and remanufactured into new beverage cans, ensuring a closed-loop recycling system that minimizes waste and emissions.
According to Alexandre Gellert, Vice President of Metal Procurement, the partnership secures a steady stream of post-consumer aluminium, enabling higher recycled content while reducing carbon emissions in line with the company’s sustainability targets. Kjell Olav A. Maldum highlighted the operational benefits, noting that transparency in volumes and logistics supports a stable and cost-efficient recycling system.
The agreement also aims to enhance logistics efficiency and further lower environmental impact across the value chain. It aligns with Novelis’ “Vision 3x30,” which targets 75% recycled content and reduced emissions intensity by 2030.
The continued collaboration underscores the growing importance of integrated recycling systems in achieving sustainable aluminium production globally.
