New Tech Plastics Expands to Ohio, Plans Facility Upgrade

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Flexible plastic packaging producer New Tech Plastics is set to expand its operations to Piqua by refurbishing an underutilized industrial facility, reinforcing its growth strategy in the US market.
The company, which has over four decades of experience in manufacturing thin-gauge industrial packaging films, plans to modernize the site to accommodate additional production lines and future capacity expansions. CEO Shawn Turner highlighted that the move, supported by JobsOhio, will enable the company to boost output and diversify into new product lines, while also creating employment opportunities in the region north of Dayton.

The renovation project will address existing structural repairs, enhance the facility’s operational capabilities, and is expected to generate around 30 new jobs. To support the initiative, the project has secured a $250,000 grant under the JobsOhio Revitalization Program.
This program focuses on redeveloping challenging sites where remediation and redevelopment costs exceed property value, helping bridge financing gaps and promote job retention and creation.
Local officials, including Piqua’s economic development director Chris Schmiesing, welcomed the investment, noting it will revitalize industrial infrastructure and drive sustained economic growth in the community.
