Increased demand sends lumber prices higher
That week’s price was up $32 or 7%, from one month ago, when it was $479.
SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Lumber traders had an increase in inquiry as on-ground prices showed signs of strengthening. Freight rates rose precipitously week after week.
In the week ending Mar. 13, 2026, the price of benchmark softwood lumber item Western Spruce-Pine-Fir 2×4 #2&Btr KD (RL) was US$466 mfbm. This was up $10 or 2% from the previous week, when it was $456, said weekly forest products industry price guide newsletter Madison’s Lumber Reporter.
Also in the week ending Mar. 13, the price of Southern Yellow Pine East Side 2×4 #2&Btr KD (RL) was US$510 mfbm. This was up $30 or 6% from the previous week, when it was $480.
That week’s price was up $32 or 7%, from one month ago, when it was $479.
Compared to the same week last year, when it was $456, that week’s price was up $45 or 10%. Compared to two years ago when it was $415, that week’s price was up $95 or 23%.
