SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Hong Kong-headquartered A1 Plastics has commenced construction of a new polyethylene terephthalate (PET) recycling plant in Cambodia, committing an investment of approximately $29 million in Pursat province. The groundbreaking took place at the Krakor Special Economic Zone, underscoring the country’s push to expand environmentally sustainable industrial infrastructure.

The launch event was presided over by Minister of Mines and Energy Keo Rottanak, who highlighted the project as evidence of rising foreign investor interest in Cambodia’s manufacturing sector and its evolving policy framework for sustainable growth. He noted that the initiative aligns closely with national priorities to promote responsible resource management and industrial diversification.

Revalyu Resources Expands PET Recycling Operations in Nashik

The upcoming facility will focus on recycling post-consumer PET materials, particularly plastic beverage containers, and converting them into reusable inputs for manufacturing supply chains. By doing so, the plant is expected to support waste reduction efforts while enhancing material recovery and value addition within the local economy.

According to the minister, the project also complements Prime Minister Hun Manet’s emphasis on fostering green employment opportunities and building long-term economic resilience through environmentally sound investments. Once operational, the factory is anticipated to generate jobs, support circular economy objectives, and strengthen Cambodia’s position as an emerging destination for sustainable industrial development in Southeast Asia.
