Newmont Announced First Gold Pour at Ahafo North Project in Ghana
The project is currently ramping up towards full operation, said a company news release.
SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): On September 19, 2025, Newmont Corporation declared that the first gold pour had been completed at its Ahafo North Project in Ghana. In the company's quest to achieve commercial production in the current year's final quarter, this represents a significant turning point.
Ore stockpiling and the commissioning of vital infrastructure, such as processing circuits, mining support facilities, and a tailings storage facility, were among the significant development milestones the miner had attained. According to a news release from the corporation, the project is now ramping up towards full functioning.
Over the course of its 13-year mine life, the Ahafa North Project is predicted to produce between 275,000 and 325,000 ounces of gold annually. Approximately 4,500 contracted employment have been created as a result of the project's building phase. About 560 permanent and 1,000 contract jobs are expected to be created once it is fully functioning. Additionally, it will make a substantial economic contribution to Ghana.
In his remarks regarding the historic accomplishment, Newmont CEO Tom Palmer reaffirmed the company's commitment to creating long-term value for its employees, shareholders, host communities, and the Ghanaian government.
