In order to determine whether Versalis' advanced recycling procedures at its new Porto Marghera recycling facility can incorporate the waste streams and secondary raw materials gathered at Veritas' facilities, an assessment will be conducted. In addition, the facility can generate up to 20,000 tonnes of expandable and crystal polystyrene annually from EPS waste.

Versalis CEO Adriano Alfani stated that the deal reaffirms the company's commitment in Porto Marghera to advance plastics circularity by utilising its technological and industrial know-how, in collaboration with Veritas.

According to Andrea Razzini, general manager of Veritas, the project's success depends on the public's involvement in appropriate trash sorting. The City of Venice and the surrounding metropolitan area will benefit environmentally from the deal.
