AISI: U.S. Raw Steel Output Inched Up in the Most Recent Week

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): According to the American Iron and Steel Institute's (AISI) most recent weekly domestic production figures, U.S. weekly raw steel production increased by roughly 2.8% during the week ending August 16, 2025. This was based on a comparison between this week and the same week last year.
The United States produced 1.774 million net tons (NT) of domestic raw steel during the week. The domestic mill was operating at 78.3% capacity. Recall that during the same week last year, production was 1.726 million NT, with a little lower capacity utilization rate of 77.7%.

The output decreased slightly by 1.4% in the week ending August 16, 2025, compared to the week ending August 9, 2025, when 1,800,000 net tons were produced and the capability utilization rate was 79.5%.
With 795,000 net tons, the Southern region produced the most. Over the course of the week, the Great Lakes region generated 554,000 net tons. North East-118, Midwest-237, and Western-70 are the other regions' productions (in thousand net tons).
As of August 16, 2025, the adjusted year-to-date output was 55.920 million net tons, with a capability utilization rate of 76.6%. This represents a 1.3% increase over the same period in 2024, when production was 55.219 million net tons with a capacity utilization rate of 76.4%.
