UPM Has yet to Reach Agreement on Closure of Ettringen Paper Mill
Just a few days ago, UPM additionally announced plans to cease paper production at its Kaukas mill in Finland.
SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): UPM Communication Papers has not yet been able to proceed with the planned closure of its paper mill in Ettringen, originally scheduled for 31 July 2025 as part of a capacity reduction programme.
According to EUWID information, no agreement has so far been reached in negotiations with employee representatives regarding a reconciliation of interests and a social plan. The matter has now been brought before the courts. As a result, no redundancies have yet taken place.
The shutdown of PM 5, which is dedicated to the production of uncoated magazine paper (SC paper), as well as the closure of the entire mill, has also not occurred.
