SDI’s Earnings from Steel Operations Surged in Q2 2025
For the six months ended June 30, 2025, net income stood at $516 million, or $3.44 per diluted share.
SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Steel Dynamics, Inc. reported results for second quarter of 2025.
During the quarter, the company's net income was $299 million, or $2.01 per diluted share. This contrasts with 217 million, or $1.44 per diluted share, for the first quarter of 2025 and $428 million, or $2.72 per diluted share, for the second quarter of the previous year. Additionally, the business reported $4.6 billion in net sales for the quarter.

When compared to the sequential first quarter, the company's steel operations generated $382 million in Q2 2025 operating income, a significant 66% increase. Compared to sequential results, operating income from metals recycling operations was $21 million, or $4 million less. This year, the operating income of the company's steel fabrication activities decreased from $117 million in the first quarter to $93 million in the second.
Net income for the six-month period ending June 30, 2025, was $516 million, or $3.44 per diluted share. Comparing the first half of 2025 to the same period in 2024, net sales fell 4% to $8.9 billion, while operating income fell 50% to $658 million. According to a press release from the company, its cash flow from operations for the first half of the year was $454 million.
