AISI Recorded Jump in U.S. Raw Steel Output

The Southern region produced the most, with 790,000 net tons.

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): The most recent weekly domestic production data from the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI) shows that during the week ending July 12, 2025, U.S. weekly raw steel production rose by about 5.10%. A comparison between this week and the same week last year served as the basis for this.

The United States produced 1.783 million net tons (NT) of domestic raw steel during the week. The domestic mill was operating at 78.7% capacity. Recall that during the same week last year, production was 1.696 million NT, with a little lower capacity utilization rate of 76.4%.

The output increased slightly by 0.10% in the week ending July 12, 2025, compared to the week ending July 5, 2025, when 1,781,000 net tons were produced and the capability utilization rate was 78.6%.

With 790,000 net tons, the Southern region produced the most. Over the course of the week, the Great Lakes region generated 570,000 net tons. North East-121, Midwest-233, and Western-69 are the other regions' productions (in thousand net tons).


With a capability utilization rate of 76.1%, the adjusted year-to-date output as of July 12, 2025, was 46.982 million net tons. Compared to the same period in 2024, when production was 46.669 million net tons with a capacity utilization rate of 76.2%, this indicates a 0.7% rise.
