SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): A technical meeting for the launch of the “Creating a Circular Economy for Electronics and Electricals in Mongolia” project was held on July 1, 2025.
The opening meeting was attended by representatives from the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change (MECC), the Communications Regulatory Commission, the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), as well as representatives from the private sector and professional associations. During the meeting, participants discussed project objectives, operational plans, and opportunities for cooperation.
The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change and the Communications Regulatory Commission will jointly implement the project with grant support from the Government of Australia and the support of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) until February 2026. The current baseline level of electrical and electronic waste will be assessed, and stakeholder mapping as well as legal and policy recommendations for sound management will be developed within the framework of the project.
Notably, the project will also be implemented in Thailand.
