Novelis, VELUX Group Entered Into Long Term Aluminum Supply Agreement

Both the parties had entered into an initial letter of intent in 2022. The long-term agreement is in replacement of this.

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): The VELUX Group and Novelis, the top aluminum rolling and recycling firm, have signed a long-term commercial deal for the supply of aluminum with a high recycled content. The VELUX Group will employ the aluminum with a high recycled content from Novelis to make VELUX roof windows and accessories, which will drastically lower its carbon emissions.

In 2022, the parties signed their first letter of intent. This has been replaced by the long-term contract. By signing the deal, VELUX Group will be able to move closer to its earlier stated objective of producing at least 3 kg of carbon dioxide equivalent per kilogram of flat-rolled aluminum by 2030.

Michael Hahne, Vice President of Commercial for Novelis Europe, commented on the development, saying that collaborating with powerful companies like VELUX is evidence of sustainable innovation. In developing high-recycled-content alloys, the business is happy to be at the forefront of the aluminum industry, he continued.

The arrangement will provide a consistent supply of a crucial roof window material with a desirable low carbon footprint for many years to come, according to Klaus Lorentzen, Senior Vice President Products and Innovation for the VELUX Group.
