UPM Announced Major Investment in Tervasaari Mill Modernization

The modernization project comprises of rebuilding of the paper machine drying section and upgrade of related steam system.

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): UPM Specialty Papers announced its decision to make investment of over 10 million euros towards modernization of its Tervasaari mill in Valkeakoski, Finland.  The investment is expected to allow the company to significantly boost the mill capacity and deliver notable improvement in production stability in highly specialized products.

The modernization project comprises of rebuilding of the paper machine drying section and upgrade of related steam system. The modernization project is expected to be completed by end-2026.

About 20 million euros have been spent by UPM on a number of initiatives to increase the Tervasaari mill's energy efficiency. At the mill site, a new electric boiler was erected in 2023.
