AISI: U.S. Raw Steel Output Reported Modest Jump

The United States produced 1.740 million net tons (NT) of domestic raw steel during the week.

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): According to the American Iron and Steel Institute's (AISI) most recent weekly domestic production figures, U.S. weekly raw steel production increased by roughly 1.80% during the week ending May 10, 2025. A comparison between this week and the same week last year served as the basis for this.

The United States produced 1.740 million net tons (NT) of domestic raw steel during the week. The domestic mill capacity were utilized at a rate of 77.5%. It's crucial to keep in mind that production reached 1.709 million NT in the same week last year, at a slightly lower capacity utilization rate of 76.9%.

Crude steel production produced 1.725 million NT in the week ending May 3, 2025, at a capability utilization rate of 76.8%, which was just 0.9% less than the previous week.

With 747,000 net tons, the Southern region produced the most. Over the course of the week, the Great Lakes region produced 552,000 net tons. North East-133, Midwest-241, and Western-67 are the other regions' productions (in thousand net tons).

As of May 10, 2025, the adjusted year-to-date output was 31.066 million net tons, with a capability utilization rate of 74.9%. This represents a 0.9% decrease from the same period in 2024, when production was 31.334 million net tons with a capacity utilization rate of 76.1%.
