The biggest producer of flat-rolled steel in North America, Cleveland-Cliffs, recorded $19.2 billion in revenue last year. The company's 2020-opened Toledo facility is the most advanced, effective, and ecologically friendly Direct Reduction Plant in the world. Nearly 30,000 people work for the corporation, which is based in West Chester Township, Ohio.

Steel Dynamics, Inc., a company established in Fort Wayne, Indiana, generated $17.5 billion in revenue in 2024. Additionally, United States Steel Corporation (U.S. Steel), situated in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, made $15.6 million in revenue the year before.

It was projected that the value of the world steel market was $1.47 trillion in the previous year. Between 2025 and 2030, it is anticipated to expand at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of about 4.6%.
