AISI Blueprint Outlines Top Steel Industry Priorities
According to Dempsey, steel is essential to the everyday lives of all Americans.
SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): The American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI) gave important members of Congress and senior policymakers in the new U.S. government a blueprint outlining the top steel industry priorities for 2025.
The new government and Congress have a chance to examine the major concerns affecting the steel sector holistically in 2025, according to Kevin Dempsey, president and CEO of AISI. In order to maintain national security and a robust economy, AISI recommended the administration to take into account key policy priorities on trade, taxes, and regulations.
Dempsey asserts that steel is vital to every American's daily existence. He stated that it is anticipated that the suggested legislative measures will guarantee the sustained prosperity of the American steel sector and the thousands of jobs it supports. Through billions of dollars of investment, he recalled, the trade and tax policies of the first Trump administration had been instrumental in creating a more competitive climate.
Global steel surplus capacity and unfair trade practices abroad were identified by AISI as the industry's two main problems. In order to combat unfair trade practices from outside, the blueprint suggests ways to strengthen current trade regulations. In order to promote fresh and ongoing investment in the nation's steel industry, it also urges the adoption of new tax laws.
