Novelis Honored as a Sustainable Leader in Manufacturing

Novelis is the first U.S.-based aluminum manufacturer to receive the prestigious recognition.

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster):  In a blog post, Cary Chenanda, President of Novelis North America and Executive Vice President of Novelis, revealed that the company's Uhrichsville factory has been named a Sustainability Lighthouse by the World Economic Forum's (WEF) Global Lighthouse Network (GLN). Novelis is the first U.S.-based aluminum manufacturer to receive the prestigious recognition.

Chenanda stated that the honor highlights the company's leadership in the sector, priceless alliances, cutting-edge technology, and environmentally friendly operations.

The Uhrichsville, Ohio facility received recognition for producing a 3105 alloy product with an industry-high 97% recycled content. By doing this, the business has significantly decreased its dependency on primary aluminum manufacturing, which uses a lot of energy. GreenCircle accreditation, a third-party accreditation in recognition of the facility's sustainability accomplishments, as a result of its significant emphasis on circularity.

Through its company-wide 3x30 goal, Novelis hopes to achieve 75% average recycling content in its products and reduce carbon emissions to less than 3 tons of CO2e per tonne of transported flat-rolled product (FRP).

The GLN is a group of firms who use technology from the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR) to increase their manufacturing facilities' profitability, efficiency, and sustainability.
