AISI: U.S. Raw Steel Output Reported Slight Decline

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): For the week ending October 26, 2024, U.S. weekly raw steel production decreased by a slight 0.2%, according to the most recent weekly domestic production figures published by the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI). This is upon comparison with the same week the previous year.
The United States produced 1.660 million net tons (NT) of domestic raw steel each week. The domestic mill capability was utilized at a rate of 74.7%. It is crucial to keep in mind that production reached 1.664 million NT during the same week last year, albeit at a slightly lower capacity utilization rate of 72.4%.

However, crude steel production rose slightly by 1.8% per week compared to the previous week. A total of 1.631 million NT were produced during the previous week, which concluded on October 19, 2024, with a capability utilization rate of 73.4%.
The Southern region produced the most, with 675,000 net tons. The Great Lakes region produced 601,000 net tons throughout the week. The other three regions' productions (in thousand net tons) are North East-130, Midwest-196, and Western-58.
With a capability utilization rate of 76.4%, the adjusted year-to-date output as of October 26, 2024, was 72.729 million net tons. This is a 1.7% drop from the production of 74.002 million net tons and the capacity utilization rate of 76.4% in the corresponding year-to-date period of 2023.
