Scrap Metal Prices: Weekly Report- October 25, 2024

Copper scrap prices showed a slight weekly decline of 0.49%.

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): The most recent week's (October 18–October 24, 2024) weekly global market price trends for the various scrap metal categories on the Scrap Monster Price Index are described in the report that follows:

 

Copper Scrap Prices

Copper scrap prices showed a slight weekly decline of 0.49%.

North America

The price of #1 Copper Bare Bright dropped 0.48% from the week before. #1 Copper Wire & Tubing was down 0.49% from the start of the week to $4.07 per pound at the end. In a similar vein, the price of #2 Copper Wire and Tubing decreased by $0.02 per pound, from $3.99 to $3.97.

 USA East Coast

The prices of #1 Copper Bare Bright on the ScrapMonster Index dropped from $4.19 to $4.17 per pound on Thursday, October 24, 2024, a weekly decline of 0.48%. During the week, the price of #1 Copper Wire and Tubing decreased from $4.09 to $4.07 per pound. The price of #2 Copper Wire and Tubing decreased by 0.50% to $3.97 per pound by the end of the week.

USA Midwest

#1 Copper Bare Bright's price dropped by 0.49% from the week before. The price of #1 Copper Wire and Tubing also decreased by 0.50%, ending the week at $3.97 a pound instead of $3.99 at the start. Over the course of the week, the price of copper scrap in the #2 Copper Wire and Tubing category dropped from $3.89 to $3.87 per pound.

USA West Coast

The price of #1 Copper Bare Bright dropped slightly by 0.47% during the week, from $4.26 to $4.24 per pound, according to the ScrapMonster Index. The price of #1 Copper Wire and Tubing decreased from $4.16 to $4.14 per pound this week. By the end of the week, #2 Copper Wire and Tubing was trading at $4.04 per pound, down 0.49% from its starting price of $4.06.

China

The previous week's price of #1 Copper Bare Bright was CNY 75,900 per MT, a little decrease from CNY 76,000 per MT. #1 Copper Wire and Tubing also saw a minor decline of 0.14% from the previous week. In addition, #2 Copper Wire and Tubing's price dropped 0.14% to CNY 71,200 per MT on the Index.

Europe

#1 Copper Bare Bright's weekly price stayed at $6,000 per tonne from the previous week. At $5,200 per tonne, the price of #1 Copper Wire and Tubing on the Index remained unchanged from the previous week. Additionally, the price of #2 Copper Wire and Tubing on the Index did not change during the week ending October 24, 2024.

 

Brass Scrap Prices

Brass Scrap prices witnessed no change over the previous week.

North America

Red Brass prices remained steady at $2.17 per pound, unchanged from the previous week's price. Additionally, Yellow Brass was flat on the Index. The commodity's price remained constant at $2.26 per pound.

USA East Coast

The prices of Red Brass reported no change upon comparison with the previous week. Also, Yellow Brass prices were flat at $2.26 per Lb over the prior week.

USA Midwest

Red Brass witnessed no change in prices over the previous week, with prices holding steady at $2.39 per pound. Yellow Brass too was unchanged on Index. The prices of the commodity remained flat at $2.24 per pound.

USA West Coast

Red Brass's price, at $2.45 per pound, showed no variation from the previous week. Also, over the previous week, Yellow Brass prices remained unchanged at $2.31 per pound.

China

Both Red Brass and Yellow Brass prices witnessed a marginal decline over the week. The price of Red Brass reported a decline from CNY 38,150 per MT to CNY 38,100 per MT. Also, Yellow Brass saw its prices drop marginally by 0.14% from CNY 35,500 per MT to CNY 35,450 per MT.

 

Aluminum Scrap Prices

Over the previous week, aluminum scrap prices on the Index slightly decreased by 0.70%.

North America

Over the preceding week, E.C. Aluminum Wire prices were up slightly by 0.88%. During the week ending October 24, 2024, the price of 6063 Extrusions dropped marginally by 1.11% from the previous week's pricing. On the Index, Old Cast prices dropped by 1.30%. Furthermore, UBC's prices dropped by 1.28% from the previous week.

USA East Coast

At the closing price of $1.15 per pound as of October 24, 2024, E.C. Aluminum Wire prices reported an increase of 0.88% on a weekly basis. The price of 6063 Extrusions witnessed a decline of 1.11% during the week. Old Cast's prices were down by 1.3% on the Index. When compared to the previous week, UBC pricing were down by 1.28%.

USA Midwest

The price of E.C. Aluminum Wire is 0.88% greater than it was a week ago. Last week, the price of the commodity increased by $0.01 per pound, to close at $1.15 per pound. In the meantime, 6063 Extrusions experienced a weekly price decrease of 1.14%. According to the ScrapMonster Index, the nominal price decreases for Old Cast and UBC were 1.33% and 1.30%, respectively.

USA West Coast

E.C. Aluminum Wire prices showed a rising trend, rising by 0.88% from the previous week. The ScrapMonster Index showed a minor decrease in the price of 6063 Extrusions of $0.01 per pound as compared to the previous week's price of $0.90 per pound. Weekly changes in Old Cast prices on the Index were -1.28%. As of October 24, 2024, UBC's prices have similarly decreased by 1.27%.

China

At the end of the week, E.C. Aluminum Wire prices edged higher by 2.31%, from CNY 19,450 per MT to $19,900 per MT. In addition, the price of 6063 Extrusions increased by 2.45% from the previous week. On the Index, the price of Old Cast were up by 2.48%. UBC prices were up 1.20% as of October 24, 2024, with a weekly closing price of CNY 12,650 per MT.

Europe

Throughout the week, the price of Old Cast remained unchanged at $1,050 per tonne. Additionally, UBC prices remained unchanged, holding steady at $1,250 per tonne on the ScrapMonster Index from the previous week.

 

Stainless Steel Scrap Prices 

The prices of Stainless Steel scrap showed a weekly decline of 1.52%.

North America

An examination of 304 SS Solid price trends point to a slight drop in the commodity's price from the prior week. The commodity's price per pound fell by $0.01 during the course of the week.

The prices of 304 SS Solid recorded a modest decline of 1.52% over the previous week as of October 24, 2024. The prices during the week registered a fall from $0.66 per Lb to $0.65         per Lb.

USA Midwest

304 SS Solid prices were down modestly by 1.52%, to end the week at $0.65 per Lb.

USA West Coast

For the week ending October 24, 2024, the price of 304 SS Solid dropped somewhat by 1.52% from $0.66 per pound the previous week.

China

Prices for 304 SS Solid decreased somewhat during the course of the week. Last week, the commodity's reported price dropped by 0.82%, from CNY 12,250 per MT to CNY 12,150 per MT.

Europe

The prices of 304 SS Solid witnessed no variation from the prior week’s price of $1,070 per Tonne during the week.

 

Steel Scrap Prices

Steel Scrap prices reported no change when compared with the previous week.

North America

#1 HMS prices witnessed no change over the prior week. The prices of the commodity stood unchanged at $315 per MT. Shredded Auto Scrap too was flat, with prices reporting no change from $380 per MT during the week. Similarly, HMS 80/20 prices held on to their previous week’s prices of $260 per MT. Also, #1 Busheling prices were unchanged over the week.

According to the ScrapMonster Index, #1 HMS's prices remained constant at $315 per MT during the week. Shredded Auto Scrap's prices for the week showed no change from $380 per MT the previous week. During the week, the price of HMS 80/20 was also fixed at $260 per MT. #1 Busheling prices on the Index were also unchanged.

USA Midwest

The prices of #1 HMS witnessed no change over the prior week. Shredded Auto Scrap also were flat during the week. At $260 per MT, the HMS 80/20 prices were unchanged on the Index. The prices of #1 Busheling posted no variation during the week ending October 24, 2024.

USA West Coast

#1 HMS prices recorded no change over the prior week. The prices of the commodity held steady at $315 per MT. Shredded Auto Scrap too was stagnant, with prices reporting no change from $380 per MT during the week. HMS 80/20 prices held on to their previous week’s prices of $260 per MT. Also, #1 Busheling prices were unchanged over the week at $390 per MT.

China

#1 HMS prices witnessed no change over the prior week. The prices of the commodity held steady at CNY 1,630 per MT.

Europe

The prices of #1 HMS recorded no variation in prices during the week, with prices holding steady at $170 per MT on the ScrapMonster Index. Shredded Auto Scrap witnessed no change from the prior week’s level of $130 per MT over the week.

 

Lead Scrap Prices

Lead Scrap prices held steady upon comparison with the prior week.

North America

A review of the price charts for Scrap Auto Batteries revealed that there had been no change in the commodity's prices from the previous week. The price per pound stayed the same at $0.22 throughout the week.

USA Midwest

Throughout the week, the price of scrap auto batteries remained unchanged at $0.22 per pound on the ScrapMonster Index.

USA West Coast

Scrap Auto Batteries continued to be priced at $0.22 per pound, the same as it was at the start of the week.

China

Over the past week, Scrap Auto Battery prices recorded no variation on the Index. As of Thursday, October 24, 2024, the prices of the commodity stood unchanged at CNY 6,850 per MT.

Europe

The prices of Scrap Auto Batteries witnessed no difference from the prior week’s price of $820 per Tonne during the week.

 

Zinc Scrap Prices

Zinc Scrap prices recorded a modest jump of 1.34% in prices week-on-week.

North America

Over the previous week, the price of New Zinc Die Cast increased by 1.23%, from $0.81 to $0.82 per pound. Prices for Old Zinc Die Cast also were up week over week. The commodity's closing price on Thursday, October 24, 2024, was $0.70 per pound.

New Zinc Die Cast is now expensive than it was the week before, at $0.81 per pound. The weekly closing price of the commodity was $0.82 per pound. Additionally, the Index showed a 1.45% rise in the price of Old Zinc Die Cast.

Europe

The cost of New Zinc Die Cast remained unchanged from the previous week. At $800, the cost per tonne didn't change.
