Ducker Carlisle Predicts Surge in Aluminum Use in Building and Construction Market

The survey concluded that both residential and non-residential aluminum markets are expected to see recovery in the coming years.

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): The recent survey conducted by Ducker Carlisle foresees 9% surge in use of aluminum in the building and construction market by 2027, compared with 2022 levels. The report titled “Building the Future: Trend of Aluminum Use in the U.S. Construction Market” was released by the Aluminum Association.

According to the report, the annual shipments of aluminum are projected to record an increase of more than 200 million pounds by 2027. The projected growth aluminum usage in the forthcoming years will be mainly driven by increased use in commercial buildings as well as clean energy applications such as solar installations.

For every $10,000 spend on residential and nonresidential market sectors, the aluminum usage in construction is expected to hit 126 pounds and 183 pounds respectively. Nearly 62% of building and construction professionals surveyed predicted notable increase in use of aluminum. They cited aluminum as the material most likely to grow in use in the coming years.

The survey concluded that both residential and non-residential aluminum markets are expected to see recovery in the coming years. The study identified non-residential windows and cladding as the key driver of the projected market growth, followed by solar installations and non-residential doors.
