Scrap Metal Fire Sparked Air Quality Notice Near Fairmont
The fire was located on Sandy Street in the Fairmont area.
SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): More details have been revealed in the Robeson County fire, which caused town leaders to issue an air quality notice.
The fire was located on Sandy Street in the Fairmont area.
The Red Springs Fire Dept. administrator said a pile of scrap metal burned. She said the pile contained old parts, appliances and other metals.
Emergency officials are not sure what sparked the fire at this time. The fire burned for more than six hours.
Officials said it took more than 10 fire departments and 40 firefighters to get the blaze contained and under control.
