Scrap Metal Fire at SA Recycling Extinguished After Four Hours

The fire is now contained, but still burning. It's been almost three hours since the call first came in.

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): The Chattanooga Fire Department says the fire was out at SA Recycling around 6:45pm on Tuesday.

After more than four hours of response time, they said the smoke was no longer in the area and the 'limit exposure' alert was no longer needed.

The firefighter taken to the hospital for heat-related injuries was also treated and released hours later.

The fire department shared helmet cam footage on X, showing crews fighting to set up a 'complex water supply' to extinguish the fire.

The fire department says they are using every available water supply around the area of the incident.

The fire is now contained, but still burning. It's been almost three hours since the call first came in.

Local 3's crews on scene confirm the smoke is coming from SA Recycling on Riverfront Pkwy.

SA Recycling at 980 W 19th St. was previously PSC Metals before SA Recycling acquired the company in 2021.
