Lumber Prices Remain Soft on Sagging Demand
Compared to the same week last year, when it was US$335 mfbm, that week’s price is up by +$117, or +35%.
SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Lumber buyers kept their inventories lean post-Easter thus demand continued to sag.
In the week ending April 5, 2024, the price of Western S-P-F 2x4 #2&Btr KD (RL) was US$452 mfbm, said forest products industry price guide newsletter Madison’s Lumber Reporter. This is flat from the previous week when it was $452.
That week’s price is flat from one month ago when it was US$452 mfbm.
Compared to the same week last year, when it was US$335 mfbm, that week’s price is up by +$117, or +35%.
In the week ending April 5, 2024, the price of Southern Yellow Pine East Side 2x4 #2&Btr KD (RL) was US$380 mfbm. This is down by -$11, or -3% from the previous week when it was US$391 mfbm.
That week’s price is down by -$24, or -6%, from one month ago when it was US$404 mfbm.
Compared to the same week last year, when it was US$545 mfbm, that week’s price is down by -$165, or -30%.
