SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Firefighters are working to knock down a fire that broke out in a Providence scrap metal yard Wednesday night.
The fire appears to have ignited within Rhode Island Recycled Metals off of Allens Avenue. A thick plume of black smoke could be seen billowing over I-95.

Rhode Island Recycled Metals is currently at odds with the capital city over a $25,000 environmental fine and nearly $160,000 in back taxes that the embattled scrapyard has been ordered to pay.
