The Group will incorporate TNFD-aligned disclosures along with its financial results next year. It must be noted that the company currently communicates nature-related reporting through its Sustainable Development Report. The report usually include nature-related targets along with the time frame within which the company aims to achieve them.
The TNFD builds on the guidelines proposed by the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD), which primarily focuses on aspects of climate change. It encourages decision makers to incorporate nature-related risks and opportunities into their strategic planning process.
Tony Smurfit, Group CEO at Smurfit Kappa noted that the company is delighted to announce that it has become an early adopter of the TNFD. It is in line with the company’s commitment to support a greener and bluer planet, he added.
