Steel Dynamics Signed New Agreement to Boost Decarbonization Efforts
The project will create large number of jobs, apart from delivering significant economic benefits to communities.
SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Fort Wayne, Indiana-based Steel Dynamics, Inc. (SDI) has signed an agreement with a subsidiary of NextEra Energy Resources, LLC towards production of 308 megawatts of energy a new wind farm project in Scurry County, Texas. The new Renewable Product Purchase Agreement (RPPA) will drive the progress of the company’s decarbonization goals.
The new wind farm project is expected to produce approximately 1.1 million MWh of electricity every year and is scheduled to become operational by the end of next year. The project will create large number of jobs, apart from delivering significant economic benefits to communities.
Commenting on the development, Mark D. Millett, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Steel Dynamics said that the company is excited to collaborate with the world’s largest generator of renewable energy from the wind and sun. The investment marks a significant step forward on the company’s path to carbon neutrality.
Rebecca Kujawa, President and Chief Executive Officer of NextEra Energy Resources stated that the development of large renewable energy projects will benefit large energy consumers like Steel Dynamics, Inc.
