Coca-Cola Hong Kong to Boost Efforts to Recycle PET Bottles

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Coca-Cola Hong Kong has joined efforts to give a new life to recycled PET bottles. As part of World Environment Day celebrations, the company, in partnership with the City Plaza, has launched the country’s first ever ‘Recycle Bar’ made from recycled plastics.
The ‘Recycle Bar’ was unveiled by Ms. Marella Canepa Risso, Franchise Operations Director, Hong Kong and Macau, The Coca-Cola Company and Ms. Aileen Chan, General Manager from Cityplaza. The bar is now open and will run through 11th June, 2023, said company news release.
It is decorated with more than 30 pieces of bar furniture, including bar furniture such as bar counter, bar stools, tables and chairs, made out of 18,000 plastic bottles. It also conducts an on spot exhibition of rPET turned everyday items. The ‘Recycle Bar’ intends to raise awareness among public about the necessity of propoer collection and recycling of used resources such as plastic bottles, in order to minimize carbon footprint. Additionally, it allows visitors to redeem free beverages and rPET-made souvenirs in exchange for recycling used PET bottles.
The furniture displayed at the ‘Recycle Bar’ will be reused at Coca-Cola’s 'Recycling Academy' experience center.
