Aluminum Scrap Prices-Market Report: Jan. 6th, 2023
The prices of Breakage 50% Recovery, Mixed Aluminum Turnings and 6063 Extrusions/Fe declined the most.
SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): The weekly price trends of scrap aluminium across worldwide markets for the past week (30th December, 2022 to 5th January, 2023) on the Scrap Monster Price Index are provided below:
The prices witnessed overall decline over the prior week.
The prices of Breakage 50% Recovery, Mixed Aluminum Turnings and 6063 Extrusions/Fe declined the most.
The Breakage 50% Recovery prices recorded a dip by 6.06% over the previous week. The prices edged lower by $0.02 per Lb to close at $0.31 per Lb on Index. The chart below represents the price movement in Breakage 50% Recovery during the course of the week:
The prices of 6061 Extrusions, Chrome Wheels and Zorba 90% NF too witnessed notable decline.
The least decline was recorded by Al/Cu Radiators/Fe, which posted week-on-week decline by 2.31%.
The regional scrap aluminum prices edged lower when compared with the prior week. The top three losers were Breakage 50% Recovery, Mixed Aluminum Turnings and 6063 Extrusions/Fe.
The prices of Al/Cu Radiators declined the least, falling only by 2.12% week-on-week. The weekly price chart of Al/Cu Radiators is provided below:
The prices reported modest decline when compared with the week before.
Breakage 50% Recovery prices dropped from $0.32 per Lb from the beginning of the week to close at $0.30 per Lb.
The Mixed Aluminum Turnings witnessed 6% weekly decline, falling from $0.5 per Lb to $0.47 per Lb during the week ended 29th December, 2022. The chart given below depicts the weekly price movement in the commodity:
The other scrap categories to record notable decline were 6061 Extrusions, Chrome Wheels and Zorba 90% NF.
The regional prices of all scrap aluminum categories posted week-on-week dip. Please find below the weekly price variation in 6061 Extrusions.
Old Cast and Old Sheet prices dropped the most during the previous week.
Both the above scrap categories saw their prices drop by CNY 800 per MT over the prior week, translating to a week-on-week decline of 4.91%.

The 6063 Extrusions prices dropped by 4.88%, whereas the prices of E.C. Aluminum Wire were down by 4.56%.
The Aluminum utensil scrap prices edged lower from INR 202,000 per ton during the start of the week to INR 195,000 per ton on 5th January, 2023. A similar decline by INR 7,000 per ton was recorded in Aluminum ingots prices over the week.

The prices of all aluminium scrap categories (Aluminum Cuttings, Mixed Aluminum Turnings, Old Cast and UBC) remained flat during the week.
LME Aluminum Market Update
Meantime, the closing price of LME Aluminum 3-Month contract stood at USD 2,304.00 per tonne as on 5th January, 2023. The LME Aluminum Cash Settlement contract surged higher from $2,250.00 a day before to $2,270.00 per tonne.
The LME Aluminum stocks declined over the previous day to close at 436,500 tonnes on 5th January, 2023, as compared with 442,425 a day before.
