ArcelorMittal Invests in New Electrical Steels Production Facility

The proposed industrial unit is expected to have a production capacity of 200,000 tonnes per annum and is scheduled to start production in 2024.

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): The leading steelmaker ArcelorMittal announced investment in a new production unit for electrical steel at its French site. The investment, in excess of €300 million, with the support of French government, is expected to create more than 100 direct jobs in the region.

The new production unit will specialize in the production of electrical steels for the engines of electric vehicles. It will complement the company’s existing electrical steel plant in Saint-Chély d’Apcher in the southern region of France. This will consolidate the company’s electrical steels production to France, said the company press release. It will be located on the company’s existing site in Mardyck near Dunkirk.
