Stora Enso Investment to Significantly Boost Production Capacity in Europe

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Stora Enso announced investment of Eur 8 million towards doubling its production capacity for formed fiber in Europe. The company plans to recruit more than 10 employees for formed fiber production in Sweden.
The investment comprises installation of new machinery in Hylte, Sweden in order to meet the increasing demand for formed fiber. The proposed investment will strengthen the company’s position as a leading provider of renewable materials. Upon completion of the project, annual formed fiber capacity at Hylte site will rise significantly from 50 million units to approximately 115 million units of the product. Futhermore, it will transform Stora Enso as one of Europe’s leading fiber suppliers.

Commenting on the investment, Sohrab Kazemahvazi, Senior Vice President, Head of Formed Fiber at Stora Enso noted that its formed fiber offerings could help brand owners meet their sustainability targets, while responding to consumers’ demands for a cleaner future. Also, the investment will further improve its position in the high demand growth market, he added.
Incidentally, Stora Enso’s PureFiber range of formed fiber products have up to 75% lower carbon footprint, compared to alternative packaging materials like plastic.
