SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): DS Smith Packaging Hungary announced that it has won WorldStar Awards for the first time. The company won the best product award in the electronics category of WorldStar Packaging Awards 2022 for the sustainable packaging solution developed by it for an automotive product.

The products were judged based on several criteria such as unification of packaging of approximately 600 product types, replacement of inefficient manual packaging process and designing out problem plastic and waste for sustainability. The innovative and 100% recyclable solution developed by the company fits a wide range of semiconductor products for Infineon Technologies.

Furthermore, it fits into automated lines and offers total protection from mechanical and electrical discharge. The reduced weight guarantees minimized carbon dioxide emission and improved logistics optimization, which in turn results in significant material cost savings, the company press release said.

Zsolt Fekete, Managing Director at DS Smith Packaging South-West Subregion commented that he is deeply proud of his colleagues from DS Smith Packaging Hungary for their creative and persistent work. The achievement will serve as a great inspiration for developing even better solutions, he added.
