Samsung to Boost Recycled Plastics Content in Packaging

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Electronics major Samsung announced commitment to boost sustainability measures, by making its appliances and packaging even more eco-friendly. The commitment was made public during the recently held CES 2022.

The company has decided to expand recycled plastics in products and packaging. This is part of company’s ongoing efforts to make its devices and appliances more sustainable making use of conventional as well as innovative techniques. Samsung also plans to boost development of new product parts, like components for washing machine tubs recycled from lunchboxes and face mask straps. 

Samsung looks forward to partnerships with companies like Patagonia to reduce the impact of microplastics in the oceans and environment. The partnership focuses on refining production so as to reduce the impacts of microplastics on the environment. Additionally, Samsung aims to have its televisions and visual displays to contain 30 times more recycled plastics.

JH Han, Head of Samsung Electronics noted that the company sells half a billion devices each year. Millions of everyday changes could make meaningful impact for the planet, he added.
