Coca-Cola Nigeria Recovered Huge Volumes of Plastic Waste
The event was organized in connection with the World Cleanup Day on 18th September, 2021.
SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Coca-Cola Nigeria Limited and Nigerian Bottling Company (NBC), in partnership with RecyclePoints, arranged a wide-spread clean-up campaign in streets and markets along several Nigerian cities, including Lagos, Asaba, Kaduna, Owerri and Abuja. The event was organized in connection with the World Cleanup Day on 18th September, 2021.

The campaign focused on educating residents about the environmental and financial benefits of waste pick-up and recycling in their communities. Furthermore, it focused on making women aware about the benefits of waste-free environment. This resulted in collection of around 557 kilograms of plastic waste, which otherwise would have polluted the environment. Incidentally, Coca-Cola’s collection of plastic bottles has exceeded over 1.5 billion in Nigeria alone.
Commenting on the milestone achievement, Nwamaka Onyemelukwe, Director-Public Affairs, Communications and Sustainability, Coca-Cola Nigeria said that the campaign was in line with its objective to develop and empower the communities where it operates and promote sustainable development in the country.
