Canfor Declared Curtailment of Production at Canadian Sawmills
Canfor is currently developing site specific plans to minimize the impacts to employees as well as contractors, he added.
SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Canfor Corporation announced its decision to curtail significant production capacity at Canadian sawmills. Approximately 115 million board feet of production capacity will be curtailed during the third quarter of the current year. The decision is mainly on account of supply chain challenges and transportation backlogs at its sawmills due to extreme wildfire conditions.
According to Stephen Mackie, Executive Vice President of North American operations at Canfor, the devastating wildfires in the Western Canada region have badly impacted the supply chain and the company’s ability to transport product to market. The company has decided to implement short-term production curtailments at its Canadian sawmills starting July 26th. Canfor is currently developing site specific plans to minimize the impacts to employees as well as contractors, he added.
