U.S. Steel Foundation Declared Winners of Scholarships

The recipients of the scholarship are selected based on academic performance, leadership skills and participation in school and community activities.

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Pittsburgh-based integrated steelmaker United States Steel Corporation (U.S. Steel) announced winners of college scholarships. The twenty student winners are all children of U.S. Steel employees. The scholarships are funded by the U.S. Steel Foundation.

This year’s scholarship program offers a total award amount of $10,000, which will be payable as $2,500 per year, renewable up to 4 years. A total of 20 current high school seniors are being selected. The students must get enrolled for a full-time course in an accredited two- or four-year college or university or vocational-technical school in the U.S. during the 2021-’22 academic year, in order to become eligible to receive the scholarship, the company press release said.

The recipients of the scholarship are selected based on academic performance, leadership skills and participation in school and community activities. Since 1995, the program has awarded more than $4 million to nearly 400 children of U.S. steel employees.

David B. Burritt, President and Chief Executive Officer, U.S. Steel stated that the scholarship program allows the company to recognize the remarkable achievements of the outstanding achievements of its valued employees. He wished all the winners the best in their academic pursuits.
