SCA Announced SEK 50 Million Investment at Pellet Mill

The panel will serve the company with the experiences of neighbours before and after the implementation of the project, he added.

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): SCA announced its decision to invest SEK 50 million at its Harnosand pellet mill at the Murbergsviken industrial site. The proposed investment will help to reduce environmental impacts from the mill. The neighbours at the mill site have been citing health discomforts and bad smell caused due to emission of terpens and resin acids during the drying process.

Per-Arne Persson, mill manager at SCA Bionorr stated that the company will invest in a new technology, a wet electrical filter, which will help to better contain particles. The company noted that it would carry out technical measurements to confirm the effectiveness of the project. In addition, it has also decided to take input from a local “odour panel”. The panel will serve the company with the experiences of neighbours before and after the implementation of the project, he added.

In addition to the above project, the company is running another project, aimed at improving the treatment of process and surface water. An additional sedimentation basin is under construction and is expected to become operational by this autumn. The whole project will be operational by the summer of 2022.
