PepsiCo Recycling's 'BottleLoop' Program Targets Plastic Waste

The new program will help PepsiCo to achieve its goal to use at least 25% recycled plastic content in its plastic packaging by 2025.

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Purchase, New York-based PepsiCo Recycling announced new program titled ‘BottleLoop’, aimed at addressing logistical challenges for recycling and reducing overall plastic packaging waste. The program is being launched in collaboration with Orange, California-based Replenysh.

According to company press release, BottleLoop delivers on-demand collection of recyclable materials from a range of participating locations, including schools, colleges and universities, convenience stores and restaurants. The collected plastic bottles are processed to form new materials, which are later used in the production of new packaging solutions. The new program will help PepsiCo to achieve its goal to use at least 25% recycled plastic content in its plastic packaging by 2025.

Tim Carey, vice president of sustainability, PepsiCo Beverages North America commented that the program would simplify recycling for its customers, drive its sustainability ambitions and work towards its own recycled content goals. The program will bring it one step closer to a circular economy, he added.

Meantime, Mark Amen, founder of Replenysh stated that the partnership with PepsiCo will deepen its network across North America. The program will modernize how businesses approach material recovery and recycling and at the same time will keep valuable materials out of landfills, he said.
