Metal Recycler Commenced Operations at New Caney, Texas Plant

The plant, built at an investment of nearly $10 million, will source zorba from auto shredder operators in the South.

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Levitated Metals- a specialty processor of mixed non-ferrous metal announced that it has begun operations at its new heavy media plant in New Caney, Texas.

The construction of the new plant during the Covid-19 pandemic period had faced with numerous challenges. The heavy media flotation plant will recover aluminum from zorba. It must be noted that the groundbreaking ceremony to mark the start of the construction activities was held on Jan 15th, 2021.

The plant, built at an investment of nearly $10 million, will source zorba from auto shredder operators in the South. It intends to purchase zorba fines and zurik within a roughly 500-mile radius of the plant. An advanced flotation process will then separate aluminum from other metals. Once fully operational, the plant will be capable to produce up to 10 million pounds per month. The aluminum produced by the plant will mainly serve the casting industry in northern Mexico.

Houston area was selected as the location of the new plant, owing to its proximity to supply and demand, its busy container port and strong manufacturing workforce. Also, heavy media separation was chosen because the process could make a very clean aluminum casting product by extracting more of the magnesium, it noted.
