Scotgold Resources Announces First Gold Pour at Cononish Mine

The phased development programme has been underway at the mine.

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Scotgold Resources Limited announced first gold pour at its high grade, low cost Cononish Gold & Silver Mine. This is considered as a major milestone in the commissioning of the processing plant. The company now looks forward to ramp up production to design level early next year, thus transforming it as Scotland’s first commercial gold mine.

The phased development programme has been underway at the mine. The first phase targets an annual rate of ore production of 36,000 tonnes. The company targets total gold production of nearly 10,000 ounces in 2021. In phase 2, the ore production will be doubled to 72,000 tonnes and the average annual gold production will be lifted to 23,500 ounces. Both phases of expansion are expected to be completed by May 2022.

Commenting on the achievement, Richard Grey, CEO, Scotgold Resources said that the first gold pour is not only a milestone in the development of the project, but also a milestone on the road to a Scotish gold mining industry. He commended the work of the Scotgold operational and managerial teams. The company looks forward to work with all its partners to realize the huge potential of gold mining in Scotland, he added.

Scotgold had received initial approval for Cononish in 2018.
