RMG to Acquire Humboldt Park Scrap Metal Recycling Business

The addition of the new metal recycling company to its fold will help RMG to have its presence on Chicago’s Northern side.

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Reserve Management Group (RMG) announced acquisition of scrap metal recycling business in Humboldt Park. The company plans to acquire Wind City Metal Recycling & Resources located at 4617 W. Division St. from its current owners Bay Metal. Upon completion of this transaction, the business will be renamed as Windy City Iron & Metal.

During last year, RMG had purchased scrap metal recycling assets of Lincoln Park-based General Iron, which it is currently moving to a new facility on the Southeast Side, for which permit is still pending from authorities. The relocation also faces strong opposition from area residents.

The addition of the new metal recycling company to its fold will help RMG to have its presence on Chicago’s Northern side. Windy City Metal does not involve shredding operations. The facility accepts scrap metal including copper and brass along with other materials such as aluminum cans, insulated wire and electric motors.

According to Randall Samborn, spokesman, RMG, the location of the Windy City facility will preserve the marketplace for independent recyclers on the city’s North Side. In addition, it will reduce suppliers’ travel time and avoid city traffic, he added.
