Plastic Recycling Company Named ‘New Champion’ by WEF

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): The World Economic Forum (WEF) has selected plastics recycling company Gemini Corporation as one of its New Champions, for its innovative technologies and sustainable growth strategies. A total of three companies were awarded ‘New Champions’ from around 90 competing companies.

Founded in 1989, Gemini Corporation collects thousands of tonnes of plastic scrap through its facilities spread across 70 countries in the world. Apart from plastics, it also recycles substantial volumes of rubber, metal and paper. Till date, the company has recycled approximately 50 million tyres, 1 billion plastic bottles and 1.5 million refrigerators. The main goal of the company is to help eradicating plastic waste in line with the circular economy.

The company is also involved in numerous charity services, including free medical and educational services. It is under the process of building two schools in India, aimed at providing free education to nearly 400 poor children.

Surendra Patwari, Chairman, Gemini Corporation said that the award is not just a celebration of its accomplishments, but a reminder of the hard work that lies ahead.

The other two winners of the ‘New Champion’ award are Risk Insights (Pty) Ltd and Optel Group.
