steelChallenge-15 Registration Window is Now Open

The Regional Champions will be given a cash prize, a regional championship certificate and an invitation to the World Championship.

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): The World Steel Association (worldsteel) announced that it has opened registration for the 15th edition of steelChallenge- the steel industry’s biggest competition involving students and industry employees.

The competition will take place over two rounds. The online Regional Championship is scheduled to take place on 25 November 2020 from 12.00 UTC. The top student and industry participant from each of the five regions – Americas, Asia-East and Oceania, Asia-North, Asia-West and Europe & Africa- will be eligible to take part in the World Championship, which will be held on 12 April 2021. The award ceremony will be held on 13th April, 2021.

The eligible candidates can participate in the Regional Championship by accessing the competition from the steeluniversity website. Each participant will be granted 24 hours to record at least three successful runs of the electric arc furnace and secondary steelmaking simulations, producing the required steel at the lowest cost.

The Regional Champions will be given a cash prize, a regional championship certificate and an invitation to the World Championship. In addition, they will be featured on steeluniversity’s website as the global industry’s promising new generation of metallurgists. The World Champions will receive the prestigious steelChallenge trophy, in addition to cash prize and World Champion certificate.

Registrations can be done at https://steeluniversity.org. Industry employees will have to pay €29.99 for registration, whereas the registration fee for students will be €14.49.
