SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): WRAP UK has announced launch of a new consumer awareness campaign on plastics packaging. The campaign is aimed at eliminating the confusions around plastic waste. The ‘Clear on Plastics’ campaign provides clear information about plastics and the impact caused by them on environment.

The campaign highlights on the role of plastic packaging in protecting products and compares them with alternative packaging solutions. It helps food and goods meet safety and hygiene standards. In fact, plastic packaging could be a good choice in several situations. Consequently, we just can’t ban all plastic packaging, the campaign says.

Further, it offers advices to residents on how plastics can be reduced at home. However, replacing plastics with other materials such as glass or paper does not lead to reduced environmental impact, it notes.

The campaign aims to provide a clear description and details on various types of plastics such as bio-plastics, biodegradable and compostable plastics.

Peter Maddox, director of WRAP UK stated that the campaign is designed to address common areas of confusion around plastic waste. It will empower citizens to make their own informed decisions when it comes to plastics, he said. The newly launched campaign is in line with the common goal of keeping plastics out of the environment, Maddox added.
