Grand Rapids E-Waste Recycling Facility Receives R2 Certification

The facility has in place, a number of safety and security measures that exceed the required industry standards.

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Grand Rapids, Michigan-based Tech Defenders announced that its Grand Rapids headquarters location has been recently certified by R2 (Responsible Recycling Practices). The facility has also earned other top industry certifications including ISO 14001 and ISO 45001.

The company underwent an extensive audit, covering the practices followed by the facility in disposal and reuse of retired electronic products. The award of the R2 certification is further to the conclusion that the procedures completely align with Sustainable Electronics Recycling International (SERI) and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) standards.

Commenting on obtaining the prestigious certification, Connor Sweeney, chief operating officer of Tech Defenders noted that the facility has in place, a number of safety and security measures that exceed the required industry standards. The receipt of the certifications provides transparency for current and future partners, added Pete Terryn, senior director of operations, Tech Defenders.
