ILZSG Refined Zinc Supply and Demand Statistics-May '19
The world zinc mine production rose marginally by 1.4%, mainly on account of notable increase in Australia.
SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): The latest monthly statistics published by the International Lead and Zinc Study Group (ILZSG) indicates that global refined zinc market deficit totaled 123kt during the first five months of 2019. The total reported inventories of the metal increased by 17kt during this period.
The world zinc mine production rose marginally by 1.4%, mainly on account of notable increase in Australia. The refined zinc metal production during Jan-May ’19 totaled 5.392 million tonnes (mt), marginally lower by almost 1% when compared with the output of 5.447 mt during Jan-May ’18. Meantime, the global demand for refined zinc metal has declined marginally by 0.6% to total 5.515 million tonnes during the initial five-month period in 2019.
The ILZSG data indicates that global zinc mine output totaled 1.121 mt in May this year. The global refined zinc metal production totaled 1.122 mt, whereas global zinc metal usage totaled 1.149 mt during the month.
