AK Steel Reaches Labor Deal at Butler Works Plant
The contract was ratified in a voting held on July 11th and 12th.
SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): The members of the United Auto Workers (UAW) Local 3303 at AK Steel Butler Works, Pennsylvania have given ratification to a three year labor contract. The contract was ratified in a voting held on July 11th and 12th. The three-year agreement, covering nearly 1,200 hourly production and maintenance employees at the plant, is valid until June 15, 2022.
Earlier in April this year, the union workers had rejected the tentative agreement for new contract, rejecting the changes in health insurance premiums, deductibles and co-pays. Later on the two sides agreed to commence discussions on June 20th. The discussions over the past three weeks resulted in ratification of the new agreement.
