Aluminum Association Releases New Agenda Highlighting Key Policy Priorities
The members of the Congress and the administration will be educated on the roadmap in the forthcoming months.
SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Arlington, Virginia- headquartered The Aluminum Association has announced publication of industry roadmap that outlines policy priorities to ensure long-term growth of U.S. aluminum industry. The document titled “The Aluminum Agenda: A Policy Roadmap for a Competitive U.S. Aluminum Industry” was prepared in consultation with aluminum companies in the country.
The Association highlights five key areas that are likely to determine the future growth prospects of the U.S. aluminum industry- Trade, Environment, Infrastructure, Energy and Workforce. It emphasizes on the need for carrying out negotiations with China to tackle overcapacity issues and eliminate trade barriers, developing new regulations on air and water quality, increasing long-term private and public funding facilities, ensuring access to efficient energy sources, recruiting skilled and diverse workforce and improving workplace safety.
The document also extends support to passage of comprehensive infrastructure bill and removal of Section 232 tariffs from market economy countries.
Michelle O’Neill, chair of the Aluminum Association noted that the U.S. aluminum industry has witnessed notable growth through increased investments in recent years, amidst global headwinds. The policy roadmap will help to ensure long-term sustainability of this growth, he said.
